Taylor Topliss is an associate at Roper Greyell, where he practices in all areas of workplace law.
Taylor has experience representing employers in wrongful dismissal and human rights matters, drafting employment agreements and company policies, and providing general workplace advice to employers. Taylor is currently expanding his practice into labour law.
Prior to joining Roper Greyell, Taylor was an associate with a labour and employment boutique firm in Vancouver. He values the collaborative environment at Roper Greyell, where he looks forward to working alongside lawyers who exhibit a high-level of expertise and insight on the current trends in workplace law. Taylor is excited to work with clients from a wide range of industries, including both large and small employers in the private and public sectors.
Career highlights for Taylor include appearing on behalf of employers at trial and in chambers applications in both the BC Provincial Court and BC Supreme Court.
After completing his articles, Taylor worked as an associate at litigation firm in West Vancouver representing construction contractors in both commercial and employment matters.
During his undergraduate studies at UBC, Taylor volunteered with the student union and the John Howard Society’s restorative justice program and volunteered with UBC’s Law Student’s Legal Advice Program. While at law school at TRU, he co-captained the TRU “Lawggers” to the Western Canadian Law Rugby Championship. Taylor also secured a spot on TRU’s BC Court of Appeal mooting team where he gained valuable experience writing arguments on obscure points of law and appearing before BC Court of Appeal judges to orally present the arguments.
Away from the office, Taylor enjoys keeping active – you can find him snowboarding on the slopes, camping, reading novels and walking his dog Cooper.
