Roper Greyell was pleased to sponsor the 42nd Annual Chinese Legal Community Banquet on Friday, August 9th at Sun Sui Wah Seafood Restaurant. A group of RG team members enjoyed a traditional 10-course Chinese banquet and interacted and engaged with UBC law students.

The Honourable Judge Derek Mah and Mr. Daniel Lee were the panel speakers in the evening.

About the Event:

Since 1979, the UBC Chinese Law Students’ Association has hosted an annual banquet for legal professionals and students to socialize over a traditional 10-course Chinese dinner in recognition of the great cultural diversity in the Greater Vancouver legal community.

This event, whose aim is to draw attendance not only from members of the Chinese legal community, but practitioners from all different cultural backgrounds, allows lawyers and law students to connect, share stories, and discuss issues facing the legal profession.

Roper Greyell is thrilled to announce that Amanda Scorda has joined the firm as an associate. Amanda first joined Roper Greyell as a summer student, and after successfully completing her articles with the firm, was admitted to the BC Bar this week. Congratulations on this achievement Amanda!

Roper Greyell is thrilled to welcome our 2024/25 articling students to Roper Greyell! Maggie Williams, Joy Marlinga, and Steven Parker were all 2023 summer students at the firm who, lucky for us, have returned for articles. Welcome back to Team RG – it’s going to be a great year!

Roper Greyell is delighted to announce that Lara Israel  has joined the firm as an associate. Lara first joined Roper Greyell as a summer student and was admitted to the BC Bar this week after completing her articles with the firm. Congratulations on this career milestone, Lara!

Roper Greyell celebrated Talia Behrmann and Elizabeth Lotfali on their admission to the BC Bar.  RG’s Julie Menten administered Talia’s call ceremony oath and Danny Bernstein officiated Elizabeth’s oath.  Both Talia and Elizabeth first joined Roper Greyell as summer students, then returned to complete their articles at the firm, and we are pleased to announce that they have formally joined the firm as associates.  Congratulations to Talia and Elizabeth!

RG is thrilled to welcome three outstanding 2024 Summer Students this week: Julia Brewster (Allard School of Law), Larissa DeWolff (TRU Law), and Tana Wang (Allard School of Law). We are so happy and fortunate to have them join the RG Team!

Roper Greyell was a proud sponsor of the Allard School of Law’s 47th Annual Women in Law Dinner on March 6, 2024.

The theme of this year’s Dinner was fostering community and enacting change, which featured keynote addresses from the Honourable Justice Ardith Walkem, Louise Mandell K.C., Louisa Winn K.C., and Dean Reem Bahdi from the Windsor School of Law. Roper Greyell’s Katie Comely, Gabrielle Berron-Styan, Sophie Toor, and Lara Israel were joined by five Allard School of Law student guests at this important and fun event that celebrates the varied experiences, backgrounds, and unique strengths of women in law.

We look forward to connecting with UBC Allard School of Law students at the Career Fair on February 28, 2024!  Event details are available via UBC Allard Law’s CSO.

Chira Perla will be a featured panelist on TRU Law’s Succeeding as a Summer or Articling Student panel on March 1, 2024, where she’ll provide tips and insights to TRU Law students as they prepare to start their legal careers. Chira also looks forward connecting with TRU Law students at the Career Fair later that same day. Details on both events are available via TRU Law’s CDO.

Roper Greyell is honoured to help sponsor a BC law student’s attendance at the Black Law Students’ Association (BLSA) of Canada’s 33rd Annual National Conference in Toronto, February 15 – 18, 2024.  Over 350 Black law students are expected to attend the National Conference, which consists of panels, networking mixers, a career fair, and gala.
